Retrofit vs replacement sliding door panels

When looking at double glazing existing sliding doors there are a number of options available to you. The two common methods are to:

1. Retrofit double glazing into the existing door panel using an insert frame or

2. Replace the door panel with a new door panel into the existing frame.

Retrofit double glazing using an insert frame

Retrofit double glazing into the existing sliding door panel involves inserting a color-matched frame inside your existing door panel. This provides housing for the double-glazed unit. In most cases, you have the option to replace your existing lockset with a new black or colour-matched lockset. The sliding door rollers would be replaced to ensure a smooth sliding door.

Replacement door panel

For a seamless look, you may be able to replace your existing sliding door panel with a new sliding door panel. The existing aluminium frame will remain. This is a much more cost-effective way to double glaze your sliding door without the need to replace the existing door - frame and all.
